#4973 Colt S/A 7-1/2”x41COLT, 180xxx serial range (1898)

Description

#4973 Colt S/A 7-1/2”x41COLT, 180xxx serial range (1898), the bore is about an 8+ on a scale of 10, and the mechanics are fine with good lock-up, timing, and all clicks on the hammer. It does, however, have a lighter than usual hammer spring tension and thus the mainspring is most likely a replacement. The 7-1/2” length 41caliber is the most scarce configuration of the five common caliber Colt Single Actions, and very seldom seen for sale. This gun does appear to be an old very well done refinish, as it shows thinned markings, such as the backstrap numbers, the frame numbers, and the Rampant Colt logo on the frame. There is also no “feathering” evident at the front sight blueing, and the hammer is the post-1906 checkering design. It does retain about 80% blue of this refinish, but no mentionable casecolor on the frame. The metal is about excellent with no deficits aside of the thin markings and the original grips show no chips and about 10-20% wear to the checking. These 41 calibered Single Actions have the unique benefit of being able to also shoot 38/40 cartridges with just a simple change of the cylinder, since the bore diameter of the 38/40 and 41 are both .406. About Ex.Fine, as refinished. $4450
