#4853 Merwin & Hulbert (Hopkins & Allen Manufacture) Open Frame S/A , 7” barrel, 44CF (either a 44M&H or 44SWR…probably the former) with about a “7” bore and VG++ action, scoop-flute style cylinder flutes and (thus known as the “Open-Top Frontier” Model). Produced between 1876-1877, this early model large frontier revolver was produced for M&H by the Hopkins & Allen Mfg …and were by far the best guns ever produced by the very prolific H&A Mfg Co, a company better known for their cheapie pocket revolvers. Flat style butt with very desirable original and very handsome “red rubber” grips with lanyard ring intact and in about Excellent in condition. About 75% flaking original nickel finish with considerable light scattered freckle pitting here and there, but primarily being on the left side of the barrel. Unusual and novel “twist and pull” action is always a conversation piece for gun collectors. About Fine/Fine+ as described. $2795
