#3634 Spencer Repeating Arms Model 1860 saddle ring carbine, caliber No.56/56RF

Description

#3634 Spencer Repeating Arms Model 1860 saddle ring carbine, caliber No.56/56RF (which is actually a .52RF using the No.56 Spencer RF casing). This is the same model that Pres. Lincoln shot on the White House lawn and was so impressed that he immediately ordered them to arm Northern troops during the Civil War. This soon became known as the “Horizontal Shot Tower”, as the entire magazine capacity of seven rounds could be fired in less time than most soldiers could reload a percussion musket. They were rugged and dependable (but heavy) weapons and were by far the most used of the four “fixed cartridge” repeaters in that terrible conflict. This one has had some restoration done, which includes NOS replaced wood and forearm band. The rest looks to be just a very decent above average carbine with decent markings, basically smooth grayish brown patina, VG action, and strongly rifled typical black powder bore that has the usual light-medium pitting and lead scale build up but looks very shootable. If converted to CF with one of the easily done conversion kits, this will make someone a fun gun to take to the range or even hunting mid-sized game. It has the correct 1860 magazine, rear sight (which is often missing) and sling swivel. About VG+ as described. $2250

Price: $2,250.00
