B111 Colt Book Yankee Arms Maker The Story Of Samuel Colt and His Six-Shot Peacemaker

Description

B111 Colt Book Yankee Arms Maker The Story Of Samuel Colt and His Six-Shot Peacemaker By Jack Rohan Published 1948 Hard Cover 305 pages 5 ¾" X 8 ½" $18.00
While its skimpy on technical details and design of Sam Colt's early firearms, it does paint a whole picture of the man behind the famous name. While it is very well-researched, it is never dull or academic. Really, it's an inspiring story of a man who was obsessed with success. While Colt's quick (though by no means effortless) success at arms making made him boatloads of cash, he was never quite accepted by 1860s Connecticut high society. I loved how he threw it back in their faces though, with his relentless refusal to succumb to the will of jealous politicians and almost crazed need to go it alone. After his manufacturing empire took off, Colt relished in fighting back against embittered family members and former business partners, who tried at every step to "take Colt down a notch" and deprive him of the fruits of his genius. Overall, Sam Colt is a fascinating figure of the American industrial revolution. Used
